What are laminated shims?

Laminated shims are a critical component for ensuring the tightest of tolerances between two mating parts. The laminated layers are peelable and can provide accuracy to 0.001”.

Made up of extremely thin layers, or foils, that are pressure-bonded together and treated to form a solid, strong component, laminated shims are highly flexible in that individual foils can be peeled off, allowing for tiny, precise adjustments to be made during the compressor assembly process. This ensures highly precise alignment and contact between parts, and ensures the stability that is required in an air/gas compressor.
